What's wrong with the wbr tag?

In the last weeks I started to get odd page requests.

They look like:
http://cunsolo.it/blogs/16-10-2008/<wbr>il-cittadino-si-cura-nelle-cliniche-pri...

... with this <wbr> tag triggering a 404 error page.

Exactly as reported here, I've been hammered with those page requests.
All of them seems to come from a AT&T dsl, no referrers.
A LOT of them ...

Any idea?

As for now, I'm starting to filter IPs. Tempted to write to AT&T too.
